Middle East Eating Disorders Association (MEEDA)
Chapter since November 2018
The Middle East Chapter of the AED was formed by the Middle East Eating Disorders Association. MEEDA is a non-profit organization based on the following 5 pillars:
- Raising Awareness
- Working Together
Eating disorders are not always well understood. There are many different kinds and our relationship to food goes further than just satisfying hunger. It is when we eat as a form of comfort or even to please others in a regular way that we begin to fall into a trap that can then turn into a never ending struggle.
We aim to raise awareness through providing talks, workshops, fun fundraising activities, being involved in research in the field, collaborating with other established associations as well as provide assistance for instance through offering sufferers the opportunity to get help free of charge through support groups.
HELP is at the heart of what MEEDA stands for.
